Chickering Victorian Grand

Jonas Chickering was the first piano manufacturer in America. The Chickering firm was established in 1823 in Boston, 30 years before Steinway, and the company made the finest pianos the world has known. Famous pianists like Franz Liszt and Gottschalk performed on these instruments while concretizing in the United States, offering rave reviews about the superiority of the Chickering piano. Abraham Lincoln had two in his home. Built circa 1887, this is a full size concert grand piano (8’8”) known as a “Presidential Grand”. This instrument is made of beautiful Brazilian rosewood with elegant carved cabriole legs and music rack, and has a tremendous tone quality that would match most contemporary instruments built today. This is truly a rare opportunity to own a piece of American musical history.
