At 5' 1" (155 cm), this piano is the smallest of the Steinway grands. This design was introduced in the 1930s to invite the majesty of the Steinway sound into almost any space.
I emailed Steinway for some history on the piano. Serial number 396019 is a NY model S in a French Provincial Walnut. It was completed on February 18, 1965 and was sold to a private customer of 205 W. End Ave, NY on July 22, 1966. This piano was acquired by Steinway and resold to another private customer of NY on September 28, 1970.
