Grotrian Steinweg 1916 6’5” Grand Piano in High Polish Ebony
This German made 1916 Grotrian-Steinweg 6’5” piano (serial number 33992) is from the mighty house of Grotrian in Braunschweig, Germany. Grotrian-Steinweg is possibly one of the most famous brand names on the planet and has always been known for its powerful voice. The tone is dramatic and loud. Amazing for a piano that is over 100 years old.
Since 1835 the name Grotrian-Steinweg has been known for it’s demanding sound. It was designed to be used for the simplest of songs yet functions best in a challenging performance. The touch is very smooth and controlled and one that will lift you off your seat.
Obviously, the cabinet has been completely refinished throughout. The original cabinet must have been a wood finish but our designers decided to go with high polish ebony and the result was amazing. The pin block restored, new pins and new strings installed, the plate has been refinished, the soundboard restored, necessary action parts have been replaced, new hammers, restored and/or replaced hammer shanks, and the belly work and trap work (pedals and lyre) have been restored.
Steffes and Schulz GmbH of Weisbaden Germany are responsible for the refurbishments of this piano.
R Kassman’s Master Technician has completely voiced and regulated the piano to concert expectations and returned it to it’s sweet tonal expectations. The touch, both up-weight and down-weight, have been perfectly balanced making this piano a true masterpiece inside and out. This unique piano is perfect for the fine arts connoisseur looking for a piano that goes beyond the pedigree.
