For sale, all reasonable offers considered, is a 1948 Steinway Model M baby grand piano and matching bench (brand unknown) in very good original condition. It has never been restored.
The piano has been in my family since it was purchased new in 1950 from the Lyon & Healy store in Chicago. I purchased the piano in 1997, and have owned and played the piano since then, but a serious injury has drastically affected my ability to play it. It is the only reason I am selling it. Before I owned it, it was rarely used.
The piano was appraised in 2012 by a very reputable local piano company at $15,000. The appraiser said it was a true market value appraisal, not a marked up value for insurance purposes. Due to changes in the market, I called the appraiser in 2019 and asked for an update, and he said the value is now anywhere between $10,000 and $15,000.
All reasonable offers will be considered, and the piano can be seen/inspected in person in the northern Chicago suburbs.
