From professional appraisal on 1/4/20:
The case and finish show signs of age, but from what I have seen on pianos from the 30s this is well above average. There are small chips and scratches present but no large areas of missing veneer and the finish has held up well over the years.
The soundboard and bridges are also in good condition for their age. While slight cracks are present, this type of cracking is not of great concern. Minor cracks are more of a cosmetic issue than a structural one and are common in older pianos, especially pianos that reside in an area with both summer and winter conditions. Neither the soundboard nor the bridges are nearing the end of their useful existence. Tuning pin torque is good and the bass strings still produce a good tone. Tuning stability is excellent for this piano. Overall, these larger aspects of the piano’s construction (soundboard, bridges and pinblock) are solid and structurally sound.
The action and damper system are in fine working order. New hammer assemblies and damper felt were installed late in 2019. High quality components were used and this had contributed to the overall quality and longevity of the piano. The wippens are original and are still functioning well. The keytops are ivory and are in excellent condition.
This is a high quality instrument and one that can last for many years to come.
