Rarely available for sale, Starr pianos were highly regarded in their time and invariably won awards at international expositions.
This one, the Model M, was labeled an Upright Grand because of the full length of its strings and because it boasted the largest area of sound-board. Moreover, its finely detailed case is a work of decorative art. The beautiful detailing includes three exquisitely carved panels, each centered by a bird in flight.
While more than a century old, this particular piano has benefited from loving care through the years. We have enjoyed it almost half a century, and made sure to tune it regularly. Thus, even today, its inner works remain in surprisingly good shape. Freshly tuned, the piano tuner found it to be in such good shape that he did not recommend any restoration.
Enjoy the full sound and craftsmanship of this historic upright baby grand without needing the space which would otherwise be required.
