This piano was delivered to a NYC piano dealer on October 18, 1929.
One week later, events unfolded bringing this noble era of American piano building to a close.
This Florentine Art Case Walnut Mason & Hamlin 5’8” grand with the legendary A9 scale is deservedly considered to be the best sounding piano under 6’ ever built.
It is one of 6 in this style built by Mason & Hamlin, who advertised their pianos as the most expensive, and best, in the World.
My name is Bernard Mollberg, founder of Mollberg Piano Restoration.
We carried out a truly comprehensive restoration for this instrument:
Full restoration of figured walnut case (including 10 books of 22K gold leaf applied - traditional oil gilding)
New soundboard/bridges/fully fit pinblock/plate & agraffes/premium stringing
Complete replacement of ALL action, damper system mechanical components.
Complete keyboard restoration including original ivory naturals/ebony sharps.
I believe this to be among the finest pianos I have restored during my 40 years in this field.
This piano is suitable for a modest size performance venue. An ideal home piano, which packs a powerful tone and musical presence into a reasonable space.
