This baby grand piano was built by the Ellington Piano Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. Ellington was one of the top brand names built by the famous Baldwin Piano Company, and they built high quality, expensive pianos from about 1893-1930.
This piano is made of Oak wood and is of the Traditional style. The piano is shown here prior to restoration, after recently having our teen leave a candle onto of covered piano.
These Ellington pianos are known to have exceptionally good tone quality after restoration; this piano has all indications of being a wonderful instrument post restoration to the burn area and wax cleanup. I began working to refinish this week, but realize I don't have the time right now. This piano was my Great Grandmothers, who entertained us with it and later taught me to play on it as well. I would love to find someone to love it as I have, but it has become difficult for me to not feel guilty about it as well.
I am thankful the piano lids were covered and protected the keys and all major parts and strings. There is a video I took as well that I am happy to email as I could not share on this site a video file. The piano prior to this incident was out of tune, so will need a tune up for sure. I am also happy to play for you the piano in a video. In the images I have covered the keys but can easily remove to show the tone and clean keys without any touch of wax or flame.
I look forward to connecting with you and appreciate your time in advance. Thank you!
